2.4GHz Antenna

The 2.4GHz antenna has many uses, particularly for wifi Internet connections and cordless phones.

If you have wireless access to the internet or a cordless phone in your home or workplace then the chances are that you will be working with a 2.4GHz antenna. Although there are a few different frequencies at which these types of devices can work, in recent years the 2.4GHz frequency band has been more typically used for this type of wireless equipment and there are a number of antennas on the market which can be used with these to boost coverage.

Generally if you have wireless internet or a cordless phone in your home it will have a base station that incorporates a stock antenna. This provides coverage of an area in which the device will work and this can typically be a distance of around 120 feet indoors and 300 feet outdoors. However if you consider that the range of coverage provided by the base antenna is not enough, or if you suffer from weak or dead spots it is possible to use an additional 2.4GHz antenna to boost the range. There are many of these types of antenna on the market and they are generally affordably priced.

There are a number of manufacturers that sell this type of equipment and a 2.4GHz antenna can typically be found for sale in electrical stores and also internet retailers. There are a number of companies that manufacture this type of equipment and these include D-Link, Intellinet and Wi-Fi Link. Generally the cost for these can range from around $10 to $20 at the lower end to $50 to $60 for more expensive antennas.

If you are considering a 2.4GHz antenna that will provide you with greater wireless connectivity in your home or work place then the D-Link ANT24-0700 2.4GHz Omni-directional 7dBi Indoor Antenna can make a good choice of equipment. This antenna retails for around $30 and provides 360 degrees of improved coverage for an existing installed wireless network. Some of the features included on the antenna include either SMA or TNC connectors, a 1.5m extension cable for flexibility of placement and the antenna also has a strong magnetic base to allow it to be securely attached to any metal surface.

If your wireless coverage has weak or dead spots then a good device to consider is the Intellinet High Gain Directional Indoor 2.4Ghz antenna. This device can be used to boost the coverage of a network in a single direction and can help to eliminate weak spots. It is considered a good choice if routers or access points have to be located in an enclosed space such as a cabinet or ceiling space. This antenna can be connected to these and left in a convenient location to boost the signal and improve the coverage. This antenna retails for around $30.

If you have wireless internet or a cordless phone in your home or place of work and find that the coverage provided by the stock antenna is not enough then an additional 2.4GHz antenna can help you improve this. These smart devices are affordable to purchase, simple to use and can give you enhanced coverage which will help you get better use of your wireless devices.
